Tripdescription:
A 14-day guided bikepacking trip through the Scottish backcountry. We start our journey in the middle of the Scottish highlands.
During 10 days we will explore the Scottish highlands by bike. A place full of great gravel stretches, nice single trails and some necessary hike-a-bike stretches.
Scotland, a place where the weather always surprises you, a country of great wild nature and flapjacks ( and Whisky). We sleep in bothies, hostels and of course we will wild camp.
At the end of our trip we’ll join a 2 day introduction on “bikerafting” in the Cairngorms national park organized by “backcountry.scot”.
HIGHLIGHTS
Adventure through remote areas
Scotland is a very remote place on the European continent. The great gravel roads and wild nature make it a perfect bike adventure destination. The weather can be rough but it’s definitely worth it.
Overnight stays in the famous Bothies
Basic shelters are spread over the whole of Scotland. They are very basic, have hosted many travelers and are free of charge. With the Scottish weather in our mind, they often feel like heaven.
Visiting many interesting sights
Besides the great wild nature surrounding us during this trip, we pass by in many places of interest, f.ex.: Loch Ness, Edinburgh, Ullapool, Eilean Dolan Castle, …

SLEEPING AND EATING
Our nights will be spent in bothies, hostels and in our tent.
Bothies are very basic shelters spread all over Scotland, open and free for all. Due to the harder weather conditions we allow ourselves some luxury now and then.
We mostly cook ourselves a simple but nice meal. As we try to travel light we will mostly run on flapjacks, pasta and some nice carrot cake along the way.
