The initial motivation was to promote winter tourism in Kyrgyzstan and introduce the local population to a sustainable form of ski touring tourism. While the topographical and meteorological conditions fulfilled the requirements for winter touring, there was a widespread lack of the necessary infrastructure and therefore also a lack of guests.
The idea and initiative to set up a yurt camp as a winter base camp in a Kyrgyz-Swiss partnership soon emerged. The idea was to provide small groups with simple, functional accommodation for stays lasting several days and as a starting point for ski and splitboard tours in the surrounding mountains. And from this, the first tunduk trip, a ski and snowboard flatrate/per day offer in Kirgsitan, was created in winter 2015/16.
The “tunduk” is the centerpiece of the traditional Kyrgyz yurt. As the central element of the roof, it also has a symbolic meaning as a connection between heaven and earth.
Experience nature directly, moving under your own steam, leisurely but steadily. Involve local people on fair terms. Time for flexibility and improvisation. Keep to manageable group sizes.
Create experiences that will later remind of unique activities in nature, getting to know other cultures, and having a good time with like-minded people.
