Day 1 – Arrival & First Impressions
Pick up in Cluj-Napoca airport or railway station and driving +/- 1.5hrs to our base:
The farm! Arrive whenever you like and settle in at your own pace. Meet your hosts, explore the surroundings, and enjoy your first taste of traditional Transylvanian dishes. As night falls, drift off to sleep in a cozy Kazakh yurt beneath the stars.
(possible to book additional nights before and after the trip – perfect for those who have a little more time to slow down)
—
Day 2 – Getting Ready for the Trail
Take it slow today — this is your time to rest, unwind, and get comfortable in the saddle. We’ll go for a gentle 2–3 hour ride around the area so you can get to know your horse, your gear, and the spirit of adventure that awaits. Tonight, another peaceful night in the yurt.
—
Day 3 – Crossing the Kalonda Plateau
Our real journey begins! We ride across the open fields of the Kalonda Plateau, heading toward the foothills of the Eastern Carpathians. Passing through the quiet mountain villages of Fenyőkút and Pálpataka, we end the day at a welcoming guesthouse — complete with a steaming saltwater hot tub under the open sky.
—
Day 4 – Into the Wild Heart of Transylvania
Today takes us deep into the wilderness. We cross the vast Nagymező Plateau and climb toward Bucsin Peak (1287 m), surrounded by endless pine forests and panoramic views. As evening falls, we reach a hidden hunting lodge tucked away in the forest — rustic, remote, and magical.
—
Day 5 – Through Mountains and Meadows to Székelyvarság
We ride between 1000–1200 meters, southward toward Székelyvarság — one of Eastern Europe’s largest and most traditional mountain villages. It’s a day of true mountain riding: steep climbs, deep valleys, ancient forests. Our reward? A comfortable guesthouse and a hearty dinner in the heart of the highlands.
—
Day 6 – The Crystal Waters of Zeteváralja Lake
We spend the morning exploring Székelyvarság — visiting the local “parliament” and a nearby waterfall — before riding down to the stunning Zeteváralja Lake. Here, we cool off in the crystal-clear water alongside our horses, enjoy a campfire dinner, and sleep in tents under a sky full of stars.
—
Day 7 – Ride Home Across the Plateau
We start the day with a short walk beside our horses, cross a deep valley, and climb back to the Kalonda Plateau. It’s a joyful ride with long, free canter stretches — a perfect way to end our trail adventure. That evening, a warm meal and the comfort of the yurt await back at the base camp.
—
Day 8 – Village Life & Local Crafts
Before we part ways, there’s still time for one more adventure. We visit Korond, the famous pottery village, where you can try your hand at a clay workshop. A refreshing dip in the local salt baths and a chance to pick up some handmade souvenirs make for a perfect last day. Spend one final night in the yurt.
—
Day 9 – Farewell & New Beginnings
Goodbyes are never easy — after nine incredible days, the bonds with your horse, your hosts, and your fellow riders run deep. But every ending is the start of another adventure. Take home memories, laughter, and the magic of Transylvania. We’ll be waiting to welcome you back.
