We live 100% outside during the trekking. A wonderful experience but with bad weather it can be hard.
Most of the time we are in the saddle, some steep or dangerous stretches we walk next to our horses. We will be most of the time between 2000 and 4000m a.b.s.l.
During the whole trekking we sleep in our tents. This area of Kyrgyzstan is very wild, cold nights or unexpected snowfall can always be the case.
For experienced horse riders. Although we move pretty slow the terrain is challenging. Not for people who scared off riding on narrow, steep tracks.
Day 1: Flying to Bishkek from EU.
Day 2: Arriving at the airport and transfer to the city, Karakol.
Day 3: Preparing for our trekking ( buying food, visiting the city,…) in the afternoon we travel to the starting point of our Trek, Jergalan. In the eve we enjoy a Folklore music concert at our yurtcamp.
Day 3 – 12: 9 Days of horse trekking at it’s best, we spend 5 to 8 hours in the saddle, we cross over high mountain passes, cross a glacier with our horses. On day 4 we have a car coming to resupply our food.
On day 9 we arrive at a yak farm, enjoy sleeping in a bed, a real russian Banja and some fresh food.
Day 13: Bad weather “buffer” day or panoramatour and gallopsession in the impressive Kaindy valley.
Day 14: On our way back to the city Karakol we pass by some great natural hotsprings and the abandoned mine town Enilchek. We sleep again in Karakol.
Day 15: Transfer to Bishkek along the Issyk kul lake, we enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake over our lunchbreak. In Bishkek we refresh ourselves in the hotel and wander around the city center before having our goodbye dinner.
Day 16: Transfer to the airport.
Traveling Kyrgyzstan in the most authentic way. Even the locals agree on this! If you know how to deal with horses, you will enjoy the freedom riding through wide landscapes with little to no baggage, and be impressed of the horses’ confidence in difficult terrain.
Not much more to do than caring for our horses and ourselves, and making some progress along the route. Sounds not much. Yet in the end always enough to be tired in the evening.
From meandering rivers in open valleys to wild waters in narrow gorges. From rocky mountain peaks to mellow pasture lands. From dense forests to sparse highlands.

We will make a food plan and go (local) shopping together. Some food we will take from home. Cooking is team work.
While in civilisation we enjoy discovering the local cuisine. If you have allergies or food preferences please let us know (and learn the Russian word for it).
Please provide preferred dates (or a range) as well as the number of persons. Some facts about what you’re interested in and/or why you think this trip must be your next adventure help us to make sure it’s indeed the best choice – or find an even better match.
