Kyrgyzstan – Bikepacking Traverse

A spectacular yet challenging bikepacking adventure. Lots of unpaved. Lots of mountain passes. Some river crossings. And great wild camping.
A 14-day guided bikepacking trip through the Kyrgyz backcountry. Starting in the capital Bishkek itself. After 1 day of riding we will find ourselves already in a wild mountain valley. The trail consists mostly of double track and gravel roads. We finish at the famous Issyk kul lake with a relaxing day at the lake. Along the way the remote stretches, great wild camp spots and wonderful valleys are the highlights of this tour. We promise that it will never get boring…

Program

Day 1: Arrival at the airport, transfer into the city, time to relax, shopping for food for the next few days.

Day 2-14: Our 13-day bikepacking trip includes 1 restday in the middle of the trip, in the city Naryn, and 1 extra day in case of problems of all kinds ( sickness, weather, …). In general we climb maximum 1000 altitude meters a day. The amount of km a day depends on the group, the terrain, the weather, … . The daily stretches can be changed at any time. Along the way we are mostly far away from civilization. A biking experience to never forget. The last day we camp near some natural hot springs.

Day 15: Riding out the valley and transfer by minibus to a yurt camp at the Issyk Kul lake shore.

Day 16: Time for swimming, relaying and transfer to the capital Bishkek after lunch.

Day 17: Time to enjoy the city: buying souvenirs at the Bazaar, getting a massage, celebrating our adventure together and maybe taking a 2$ haircut.

Day 18: Flying back home.

adventure through remote areas

we spend multiple days out without passing any town or big settlement. we only pass by some yurtcamps and herds with their shepherds.

great wild camping

A big advantage of traveling through Kirgizstan is the easy access to wild camping. almost everywhere you can pitch your tent, something almost unthinkable for us Europeans. The locals have full understanding for wildcamping as they live as nomads. Often they are very curious to inspect our lightweight, modern tents.

great cycling experience

For people who love to spend long stretches on the bike, this route is a blast. The route is not boring and far away from busy, paved roads.
