Meeting point: Bishkek
Kyrgyzstan offers vast alpine landscapes, open valleys, and high pastures shaped by nomadic culture. This trip aims at the exploration of different places for paragliding combined with cultural immersion – not as a fixed program, but as a moving basecamp. It is as much about the journey as it is about flying.
Flying areas were selected for their paragliding potential, accessible take-offs, and varied terrain. They may offer opportunities for local flights, hike & fly, and thermalling flights with XC potential – depending on conditions and group interest. We’ll find out more together.
Flexibility is at the core of this journey. Weather, group dynamics, and logistics shape our daily decisions. Some days may be fully dedicated to flying, while others involve scouting new take-offs or relocating to a different region.
The atmosphere is cooperative and open. This trip is designed more like a small paragliding festival on tour than a structured camp. We plan together, travel together, share meals, and share stories.
All pilots remain fully responsible for their own flight decisions at all times. This trip is designed for independent pilots who are comfortable flying without supervision and who enjoy discovering new landscapes from the air.
Experience 3–4 distinct flying areas across Kyrgyzstan — from open valleys to alpine pastures. Each region offers different terrain, conditions, and paragliding opportunities.
Hike & fly days connect terrain, effort, and reward in their purest form. Access remote launch sites by foot and combine physical movement with aerial freedom.
This trip embraces uncertainty. Decisions evolve with conditions and curiosity. It rewards adaptability, teamwork, and a genuine desire to discover new airspace.
This is not a classical paragliding trip with a fixed program. It is an exploratory journey designed for independent pilots who are comfortable adapting to conditions.
The trip evolves day by day. Decisions are made based on weather, motivation, and local conditions.
Preliminary itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek, briefing, equipment check.
Day 2: Transfer to the first flying region.
Day 3–4: Flying days in the first region. Familiarization with terrain & conditions.
Day 5: Transfer to the second region,
Day 6–8: Flying days in the second region.
Day 9: Transfer to the third region.
Day 10–12: Flying days in the third region.
Day 13: Return to Bishkek.
Day 14: Departure.
The exact program remains flexible. We aim to catch the good weather windows and make the most of each region.
Most days are spent in mountainous terrain, sometimes in remote areas with limited infrastructure. We move between different regions and spend a lot of time outdoors.
Accommodations include simple guesthouses, yurt camps, or camping in the great outdoors. The choice is based on location and logistical feasibility, not on comfort.
Hikes to take-off are to be expected; about. 2–5 km and 400–800 m ascent. Pilots must be able to carry their paragliding equipment in rough terrain.
Solid paragliding experience in the mountains is essential. Pilots must be able to assess weather conditions, take off and land independently, and make safe decisions without supervision.
You are an autonomous pilot with mountain flying experience. You feel comfortable launching and landing in unfamiliar terrain and flying in alpine conditions.
You are comfortable hiking for 2-3 hours with your paragliding equipment. It’s not a race, and we have time – but you’ll need to bring some stamina.
You’re not expected to fly far, but autonomously. You must be able to:

tunduk operates a structured risk management concept that applies to every trip. Prevention is the priority – we mitigate risk with conservative route decisions, timing, and group management. When conditions change, plans change.
All participants are required to read the tunduk Emergency Concept. It covers prevention, decision-making in the field, and emergency procedures.
On all trips in remote areas without mobile coverage we carry a Garmin inReach satellite communicator for emergency communication.
general travel safety information on our destination pages →
This is not supervised flying – all decisions regarding takeoff, flight, and landing are made independently by each pilot.
Most places in Kyrgyzstan are genuinely remote with very limited rescue infrastructure. Prudent decision-making and a strong sense of personal responsibility are essential.
Basic first aid knowledge is expected of all participants.
Insurance is the responsibility of each participant. Coverage must include health (illness and accident), rescue and evacuation in the destination country, and repatriation. We may ask for proof of insurance prior to departure.
Travel insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended. It should cover trip cancellation, lost equipment, and any activity-specific risks relevant to the trip.
Verify the coverage of claims related to paragliding in Kyrgyzstan with your insurance prior to the trip.
